Are you prepared for cold and flu season?

As a mama to two little ones, working full-time as a Physician in Urgent Care, and spending every free second I have perfecting my passion project (an online course for new mamas!) I don’t have time to get sick! There is so much that I want to accomplish this year and I’m not going to let the sniffles hold me back!

Cold and flu season is in full swing and I try to keep my medicine cabinet stocked ahead of time so I don’t have to run to the store if I feel myself coming down with something. Patients always tell me they are overwhelmed with the amount of cold and flu products and have no idea what the ingredients actually do!

I am going to break it down for you with one of the products we keep stocked in our house: Mucinex Fast-Max All-In-One.

Mucinex Fast-Max All-In-One provides multi-symptom relief in just one dose so you can get on with your day without missing a beat.

Mucinex Fast Max All-In-One includes:

  • Acetaminophen – Pain reliever and fever reducer. Easier on the stomach that NSAIDS like Ibuprofen. For adults and children 12 years of age and over, make sure your total daily dose of Acetaminophen across all sources does not exceed 4,000mg.
  • Dextromethorphan HBr– Suppresses the cough reflex in your brain to reduce cough or reduce the impulse to cough
  • Guaifenesin – Help to loosen phlegm (mucus) and thin bronchial secretions in your airways which decreases chest congestion that might trigger a cough.
  • Phenylephrine HCI– Nasal decongestant that works by reducing the swelling of blood vessels in your nasal passages.

Getting all of our symptoms relieved with just one medication is a must for our family.

You will also be surprised how many people don’t have a thermometer in their house! Having an accurate temperature is so helpful for your physician. A fever is defined as a temperature of 100.4 or above (not ‘I felt hot’). Make sure you grab a thermometer when you are stocking your medicine cabinet!

You can use Walmart online pickup and delivery to stock up on items for your medicine cabinet and make sure you are prepared without having to get out of your car (or leave your house!) The last thing I want to do is get sick and not have anything on hand when the pharmacy is closed or I can’t quickly run to the store because I have the kids at home. If you stock up now, you can get $5 off Mucinex Fast-Max in January and $2 off in February!
